Obituary

John E. Woelfel, Sr., 84, of Whitman, formerly of South Boston, passed away, Friday November 18th surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia A. (Scales) Woelfel. Devoted father of John E. Woelfel, Jr., Jason D. Woelfel and his wife Gail O’Brien and Theresa M. Woelfel, grandfather to Concetta and Leo Woelfel, dear brother to Patricia M. Woelfel, Ann T. Faherty Sceles, Judith A. Donahoe and the late Rose Woelfel, Dorothy O’Connor, Fawnie Furlong and Francis M. Woelfel, Jr.

John was a proud Veteran of the Korean War 10th combat engineer of the 3rd Infantry Division, 1951-1952. He actively marched with the KWV, as well as the former president in Waltham.

He was born and raised in South Boston, son of the late Francis and Rose (Towle) Woelfel. He was a retiree of the City of Boston Public Works Department, diesel mechanic.

His funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 22nd at 10:15 from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St, (Rt 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Visitation will be held on Monday November 21st from 4:00-8:00PM. Burial will take place at a later date in the MA National Cemetery, Bourne, MA

Donations may be made in his name to the Korean War Veterans Assoc.
