Margaret F. Myers, 69

Margaret F. “Peg” (Gallagher) Myers, age 69, of Norton, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday, November 18, 2016. She was the beloved wife of Drew E. Myers, to whom she was wed for the past forty-eight years.

Born in Chelsea, MA on December 30, 1946, she was a loving daughter of Alice (Dolan) Gallagher of Quincy and the late Arthur Gallagher, Sr.

Peg grew up in Dorchester and Portland, Maine. Her family later moved to Randolph where she was a 1964 graduate of Randolph High School. She furthered her studies, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Education from Boston State College and later a Masters Degree in Education Administration from Cambridge College.

Mrs. Myers retired as the Principal of the Wood School in Plainville. Prior to entering the educational field and following retirement, she had worked in various capacities for the New England Patriots, which included being an Education Coordinator at the Patriots Hall of Fame.

Peg was well known in Norton where she had made her home for the past forty-five years and served for twenty-one years as a former member and Chairperson of the Norton School Committee. She was a former Corporator at North Easton Savings Bank and most recently, she and her husband Drew where members of the Norton CERT Organization.

For her many years of diligent community service to the Town of Norton, which she loved so dearly, Peg was honored by having the 2016 Town Report dedicated in her name.

Peg loved spending quality time with her family and many friends, especially with her cherished grandchildren. Her hobbies included playing “Mahjong” with fellow high school classmates, quilting, crafts and traveling.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her loving and devoted daughters Launa M. O’Gara and her husband Brian of Lee, Andrea L. Schuettler and her husband Burkhard of Duxbury, and Leiah M. Myers and her husband John Meewes of Foxboro. She was the dear sister of Arthur Gallagher, Jr. of Norwood, Mary Ann Sheehan of Brockton, Patricia Finn of Dorchester, Alica Gallagher of California and the late Michael Gallagher. She was the adoring grandmother of Mia Schuettler and Liam O’Gara, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 22nd at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 21st from 5:00-9:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
