Ellen Elaine (Ellwein) Sartain went to Glory on November 11, 2016 at Tranquility Manor in Kennewick. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
She was proud of her Sioux Indian Heritage and was born on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation in South Dakota on May 23, 1932 to William and Della (Chamberlain) Traversie.
Ellen raised four daughters and had three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. After her marriage to Albert Lee Sartain on May 16, 1981, she gained five more children, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren all of whom she cherished.
Ellen was a born again Christian and loved the Lord Jesus Christ. She faithfully attended Anchor Point Baptist Church in Grandview. She enjoyed baking, gardening and watching squirrels and birds.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, William and Della Traversie; her husband, Lee Sartain; her daughter, Susan Hill; her grandson, Brian Lehman; her sister, Charlotte Traversie; her step-daughter, Kathy Menshew; and step-son, Charles Sartain.
She is survived by her sister, Shirley Schmidt; her brothers, Krohn, William and Wayne Traversie; her daughters, Sandra Weis of Kennewick, Carol Ellen Koontz (Jerry) of Richland and Brenda Jean Nipper (Ken) of Kennewick; her grandchildren, Dashia Elaine Hopp (Mike) of West Richland and Quiana Rose Tucker (Austin) of Richland; and three great grandchildren, Taylor, Ryan and Destyn. She is also survived by her step-sons, Vernon Sartain of Goldendale and Rick Sartain (Kathy) and step-daughter, Kimberly Fuller (Kal) all of Grandview.
A Celebration of Ellen’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 21st at Anchor Point Baptist Church in Grandview. Her family asks that memorial contributions be made to the church. You may leave a message for the family at www.Prosserfuneralhome.com
