Obituary

Edward J. Careau 89, formerly of Cumberland, died November 13, 2016 at St. Antoine Residence. He was the husband of the late Alice P. (Guertin) Careau with whom he had been married for sixty five years. Born in Blackstone, he was a son of the late Arthur and Rita (Guibeault) Careau. He was a forty year employee of Industrial Machine Corp., rising to foreman and quality control manager. Later he was the quality control manager for Taft Pierce for five years before retiring in 1986. Ed was a US Navy Veteran and served during WWII. He enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing, chess, playing cards and family lawn games. Ed was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He was a devout catholic and attended Mass on a daily basis. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church Choir.

Edward is survived by his son Edward A. Careau and his wife Jane of Middleboro, MA, his daughter Jeannine R. Michaud and her husband Gerard of Woonsocket, two grandchildren, Paul Careau and his wife Sarah, and Elise Bordieri and her husband Brian and four great-grandchildren, Aidan and Juliana Careau, and Kasey Rose and Erik Bordieri. He was predeceased by his sister Stella Degrange.

His funeral will be held Thursday at 8:30 AM from the Fournier and Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St,. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Joan of Arc Church, Mendon Rd,. Cumberland. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland. Visiting hours are Wednesday 4:00 -7:30 PM.
