Obituary

Laconia, NH -----H. Clinton "Clint" Quackenbush, 86, formerly of Grantham, NH, Campton, NH, and Warwick, NY passed away on October 27, 2016.

Born on November 22, 1929 in Warwick, NY, he was the son of the late Howard and Mary (Mabee) Quackenbush.Raised in Warwick, Clint graduated fromWarwick High School, where he had played trumpet in the band and third base for the baseball team. After high school he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Finance from Rider College in Trenton, NJ, and served in the U. S. Army in the Korean War. Returning to Warwick after his military service, Clint and his wife, Frances (nee Dunn),raised their six children. He also became the owner of Quackenbush Agway and Fuel Oil Service in Warwick, which he ran until his retirement. In retirement, he moved to Campton, NH to enjoy skiing in the White Mountains.

Clint was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, golf, and alpine skiing. He was a former member of the Silver Streaks Ski Club of Waterville Valley, NH. His favorite indoor activities included bowling, playing cribbage, playing bridge, and watching the Boston Red Sox on television. Clint earned many bowling trophies over the years, and often wished aloud that his golf game was as good.

Clint made a lifelong habit of serving his community, where he was a member of Warwick Rotary, Planning Commission, and the Excelsior Fire Department. A member of American Legion Post #214, as well as the Police Commissioner, a member of the Odd Fellows, and past Noble Grand at Wawayanda Lodge #34 I.O.O.F. , and a past District Grand Marshal of Orange County all in Warwick, New York. Upon his move to New Hampshire he continued serving his community by becoming the treasurer of the Plymouth Congregational Church in Plymouth, NH, anda volunteer at the Kearsarge Community Presbyterian Church in New London, NH.

He was married to Sylvia (Decker) Quackenbush, and he was predeceased by his first wife, Frances (Dunn) Quackenbush.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Michael H. Quackenbush of Selden, NY, Sharon M. Quackenbush of Lebanon, NH, Bruce C. Quackenbush of Denver, CO, Anne Q. Cusolito of Reading, MA, Patricia Quackenbush of Cumming, GA, and Susan Quackenbush of Alpharetta, GA. He is also survived by five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Ethel Q. Wadeson.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, November 12, at 11:00am at the Kearsarge Community Presbyterian Church 82 King Hill Rd, New London, NH.
