Andover – M. Virginia (Wholey) Jackson, 94 of Andover, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2016, at her home. Born in Lawrence on July 30, 1922, she was the daughter of William and Mary (Hubin) Wholey.
Virginia was educated in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School. She worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone in Lawrence and then for AT&T in Lawrence until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and was a communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel / St. Augustine Chapel in Lawrence. She enjoyed taking trips and lived for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Virginia will be deeply missed by her son, Robert F. Jackson, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Barre, MA; 3 daughters, Faith Ann Ouellette and her husband, Gerard of Methuen, Gail Patricia Morin and her husband, Thomas, of Pelham, NH, and Linda Jackson and her husband, Jack Fowler of Newbury, MA; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Joan Cashman of North Andover; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her 6 brothers, Raymond, Dr. John, William, Arthur, Francis, and Thomas Wholey.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Virginia’s life by gathering for her Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel/St. Augustine Chapel, 128 Ames Street, Lawrence. Burial will follow at St. Mary/Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence. At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours.
