Obituary

GROVELAND: Tressa (McBride) Callaghan passed away at home October 27, 2016. Our angel is finally at rest after a long and courageous battle with cancer. The world will never be quite the same.

She was born in Silverton, Oregon February 7, 1939 the daughter of Henry and Otha (Barton) McBride. Tressa was the beloved wife of Edward “Jack” Callaghan and mother of Glenn and his wife Christine X. Callaghan of Groveland. She was predeceased by her younger son Daniel J. Callaghan. Tressa is also survived by her sister Alice B. Phair of Manchester, NH (whom the family would like to thank for always being there when Tressa needed her.) and her brother John McBride of Texas. Tressa was one of eleven children and leaves behind many nieces and nephews that are spread all over the country.

Tressa was a retired nurse who gave care and comfort to many during her long career at Penacook Place. In her leisure time she created stained glass art pieces and baked marvelous treats for her appreciative family, friends and neighbors. Tressa was a longtime member of The Groveland Congregational Church and enjoyed doing artwork for the church’s fund raising events. She and her husband of 62 years were recently honored for their dedicated work to establish and maintain the property at the Groveland Town Landing. She was a much loved wife and mother who will be missed by many in the community she called home.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday November 5th at 11:30am from the Fellowship Hall of The Groveland Congregational Church –4 King Street Groveland MA. Tressa was sadly allergic to flowers. However, she did love their beauty often adorning her beautiful tresses with an artificial blossom. It is for that reason the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers donations in her memory be made to The Groveland Congregational Church, 4 King Street, Groveland, MA 01834.
