HAVERHILL: Sheila Ann (Law) Sarto, 77, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton. She was the wife of the late Louis Sarto.
Born in Haverhill on April 24, 1939, she was the daughter of the late James and Antoinette (Caputo) Law. A lifelong resident of Haverhill, Sheila graduated from St. James School and later worked for Angelo the Florist as a flower arranger. Sheila was also employed for many years as a book binder.
Sheila was an avid racing enthusiast and enjoyed her visits to Rockingham Park. In her spare time she found pleasure visiting Foxwoods, playing bingo and watching her favorite sports team, the Boston Red Sox.
At home, nothing made her happier than time with her cats. Sheila was an animal lover and especially enjoyed the many cats she had adopted over her lifetime.
She is survived by her loving and doting nephew, James “Jimmy” Barry Sr. and his wife, Katrina of Medford; several nieces and nephews, including the very caring, Pat Miller and Susan Shuker and many dear friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill from 5 - 7 p.m. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday in St. James Church, 185 Winter St., Haverhill at 11 a.m. Interment will be held in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, Sheila’s family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in her name to MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
