Obituary

UTENIS, ALBINA age 90 of South Boston passed away peacefully September 17, 2016. She emigrated from Lithuania with her baby son Daniel after WWII. Her first husband passed away at a very young age about the same time that Daniel was born. She met and married Bronius Utenis who also had an older son Raymond and also emigrated from Lithuania. Together they started a new life in America. Their marriage resulted in the birth of their son, Algis. They both worked very hard to save enough money to open a small delicatessen in Dorchester. She lived above the store with her husband and their youngest sons Al and Dan for nearly a decade and a half. Raymond, the eldest went on to join the army and pursue a career with Eastern Airlines as a pilot. After selling the store and building in Dorchester, Mrs. Utenis decided to try her hand at rental real estate, which she successfully did for forty years. Bronius, her husband passed nearly 30 years ago. She both lived and worked in the Andrew Square section of South Boston during that timeframe. She will always be remembered for her kind heart, graceful manner and strong character.

Albina was predeceased by her husband Bronius Utenis, sons Daniel Sulls and Raymond Utenis, and. She is survived by her son Algis Utenis and daughter-in- law Karen Safford Utenis of Ipswich, her daughter-in-law Barbara Clayton of Otis, her grandchildren Jennifer Chatham and her husband Tad of Houston, Texas, Raymond (Scott) Utenis and his wife Heidi of Otis and Richard Utenis and his wife Karen of Winsted, CT, her three nieces Regina Blider of Chicago, IL Diane Rugienis and Lorraine Davis of Tillsonburg, Canada, Her two nephews, Vytautas Kancevicius of Williamsport, PA and Vincent Kevis of Eldora, Iowa, great grand children and many relatives in Lithuania.

Visiting Hours will be at St. Peters Catholic Church, 75 Flaherty Way South Boston, MA on Monday from 9-10:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Interment at Forest Hill’s Cemetery.
