Stow, MA

Eugene F. “Geno” Curley, 87, a longtime resident of Stow and formerly of Hudson, died on Monday, Sept. 19th at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 49 years to the late Elinor R. (Case) Curley.

Geno was born and raised in Hudson, son of the late Raymond J. Curley Sr. and Nora (Toomey) Curley. He attended local schools and was a 1947 graduate of Hudson High School. He attended Norwich University in Vermont where he was a member of the Hockey and Polo teams and received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1951. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army until being honorably discharged. He worked in the family business, R.J. Curley Plumbing and Heating Co. of Hudson for many years and later worked with his son Matt’s business, Matt Curley Plumbing and Heating until his retirement. He was a member of the Hudson Elk’s, former member of the Hudson Planning Board and member of St. Isidore Parish of Stow.

Geno truly loved the game of hockey, besides his playing years in high school and college, he continued playing until his later years as a member of the Hudson Old Timers “Rusty Blades” Hockey Club. He always considered himself fortunate to be able to pass on his passion for the game as a hockey coach at many levels, including his time as Head Coach of the Hudson Catholic Hockey Team; coaching within the Hudson Youth Hockey Program and his time as the Girl’s Hockey Coach at Assabet Valley. He cherished his time living on Lake Boon, spending many memorable days and evenings with family and friends at his home on the lake. He loved to waterski on the lake and always found time to share that experience with his family and friends. His loving spirit and endearing personality will forever be cherished by all who loved and knew him.

He is survived by his four children, Cindy Curley of Stow, Matt Curley and his wife Martha of Marlboro, Jill Percia and her husband Salvatore of Orlando, FL and Thomas Curley and his wife Phoua of Hudson. He is also survived by his brother, Richard T. Curley and his wife Charlene of Hudson; his sister, Margaret Gill, wife of the late Joseph Gill of Hudson and recently was predeceased by his brother, Raymond J. Curley Sr. and survived by Raymond’s wife Gloria of Hudson. He was the loving grandfather of Elizabeth, Benjamin, Veronica, Cameron, Dominic, Keagan, Aaron, Owen, Claire and Norah; great grandfather of Noah, Ryan and Leo and was predeceased by his granddaughter Ana. He also leaves his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


A funeral service will be held on Saturday Sept. 24th at 11:00 a.m. in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc., 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (www.tighehamilton.com). Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Friday Sept. 23rd from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
