Robert “Bob Mac” McCarthy, II, 58 of Salem, NH, passed away on September 17th 2016 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, after a 3-year battle with prostate cancer. He was the beloved husband of Janet (Boisvert) McCarthy, to whom he was married for 23 years.
Born in Lowell on November 4, 1957, he was the son of Robert and Patricia (Altemus) McCarthy. Bob worked as a truck driver for Doyle Lumber in Andover for over 27 years until his retirement. He had also been very involved in the Boy Scouts of America. Bob was a very outdoorsy person, who loved hiking, boating, skiing, and fishing, including ice fishing. He was also an avid New England Patriots fan.
Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Janet; 3 children, Jennifer Baggett and her significant other, Mark Kobrenski of Methuen, Jillian Baggett of Plaistow, NH, and Joseph Baggett and his significant other, Jessica Coffill of Salem, NH; his son-in-law, Louis Zellin of Lawrence; 8 sisters, Gail Forrest, Patricia Cote, Karen McCarthy, Sr. Robin McCarthy, Susan Thompson, Lisa Augusta, Rose Noetzel, and Cathy Schwrong; 7 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Robert J. McCarthy III and his daughter, Tiffany McCarthy Zellin.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Bob’s life by gathering for his Mass of Christian Burial, which will take place at Our Lady of Good Counsel/St. Theresa Church in Methuen on Thursday, Sept. 22nd at 10 AM. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary/Immaculate Conception Mausoleum in Lawrence.
