Obituary

NATICK – Harold L. Morris, of Haverhill, and former longtime resident of Natick passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on Wednesday, September 14th. He was a devoted husband, sharing 59 years of marriage with the true love of his life, the late Katherine (Fair) Morris.

Born, raised, and educated in Natick and Framingham, Harold was one of seven children of the late Gladys (West) Morris. He was a 1943 High School graduate of Framingham High School where he became well known for athletics. His talents were demonstrated as the quarterback for the Framingham High School football team and pitcher for the baseball team. During his junior year, he was even invited to try out for the Boston Braves. However, following graduation, Harold enlisted in the Coast Guard. He served as radio operator on an ice cutter patrolling off the coast of Greenland throughout the war. After serving in the coast guard, he met Katherine and in1948 they were married. They settled in Natick and started a family. Harold was a lifelong lover of animals and had an avid interest in feeding and watching birds, teaching family and friends to recognize and appreciate them.

He is survived by his daughter Brenda and son-in-law William Marcoux of Methuen, his grandchildren, Marguerite, Graeme, and Kathleen, and three great grandchildren, who he adored so much, Michael, Lily, and Cecilia. He is predeceased by his siblings, Hazel, Bill, Ruth, Bob, Audrey, and Sonny.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service being held on Thursday, September 22 at 11:00 A.M. in Dell Park Cemetery, 163 Pond Street, Natick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Natick Visiting Nurses Association, 213 West Central St., #313, Natick, MA 01760 or the Home Health VNA, Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St, Lawrence, MA 01843.
