Obituary

Hanson – George M. Turner III, 68 a thirty-nine year resident of Hanson, died Sunday September 4 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of forty-six years to M. Louise (Duffy) Turner.

Born in Boston and raised in the Dorchester he was the son of the late George and Edith (Campbell) Turner.

George was a proud Veteran of the US Army having served from 1965-1968, including one year overseas in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion of Whitman & Hanson, and an active member of the Patriot Guard Riders.

Prior to his retirement he had worked for over thirty years for the Boston Water & Sewer Department.

He had enjoyed fishing, motorcycle riding and conversing on his CB Radio.

In addition to his wife Louise he is survived by his daughters, Tina Turner and her significant other John Iervolino of TN and Cheryl Giovanello of Halifax, his brothers Thomas Turner and his wife Maryann of NH and Michael Turner of Kingston, his sisters Cheryl Woods and her husband Francis of Marshfield and Edith Seeman and her husband Bill of Plymouth. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tyler, Jordan, John Jr., Francis, Elizabeth, Emily and Maxximos as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Phillip Turner.

His funeral service will be held Friday September 9 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 50 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM in the Massachusetts National Veteran’s Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be held Thursday September 8 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
