New Bedford – Evangeline M. Xavier, age 99 of New Bedford, passed away on Monday, March 2nd, 2015, 2015 at The Oaks. She was the loving wife of the late Manuel A. Xavier and the daughter of Barbara F. (Murray) and Carlton S. Baker.
Evangeline was a lifelong resident of this area and was the floor lady for Kay Windsor for many year until her retirement. She was also a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Guild.
Her family includes, 1 daughter: Sheila M. Botelho and her husband Raymond of Rochester, MA; 2 nieces: Barbara Paiva and Erma Dewhurst; as well as 3 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Evangeline was also the sister of the late Lola Baker, Erma W. Roy, May M. Thornton and the aunt of the late Joyce E. Fonseca and Edward Roy.
In accordance with her wishes Evangeline will be cremated. A memorial mass will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
