Obituary

Edward Mattson of Plymouth and formerly of Quincy, passed away on Sunday October 17th at Life Care Center in Plymouth. He was 94 years old. Edward was the husband of Phyllis (Calen) Mattson. They were married for 58 years.

He was born in Quincy. He was the son of Edward and Ida (Bjorkland) Mattson. Edward as educated in Quincy, New York, and Sweden. Edward served in the U.S Army during WWII and honorably discharged in 1945 after 4 years.

Edward worked for New England Art Publishers in Abington as a personnel manager and for Colourpicture Publishers in Boston as a customer service manager.

Upon his retirement in 1988, Edward and his wife wintered in Florida for many years. Later they traveled throughout the United States and on River Cruises in Europe. They lived in Plymouth Mobile Estates for many years. Edward was President of the Association when the residents bought the Park and formed a Corporation.

Edward enjoyed cross-country skiing, kayaking and canoeing, golfing, painting, fishing, bike riding and making beautiful Nantucket Lightship Baskets, which he sold at Plimoth Plantation.

In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by a son, Gordon Mattson of Quincy and a daughter, Nancy McHone of Plymouth and one grandson, Benjamin McHone.

Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St, N. Plymouth on Wednesday, October 20th from 4 to 7 PM. The funeral service will be held at the Christ Episcopal Church, 149 Court St, Plymouth on Thursday, October 21st at 11 AM. A private burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jordan Hospital, 275 Sandwich St, Plymouth, MA 02360.
