Obituary

John D. “Jack” Fitzgerald, born May 15th, 1946, died tragically September 30th while walking Riley, his beloved Yellow Lab, in Malden’s West End. Jack was the loving husband to Susan (Bolz) for over 28 years, and father to Dennis Fitzgerald of Astoria, NY and Christine Fitzgerald of Malden. He was a loving brother to Anne Fitzgerald Clark and her husband Louis Clark of Swampscott, Kathleen Fitzgerald of Swampscott and Eileen Brockhurst of Marblehead. Jack was preceded in death by his father Dennis Fitzgerald and mother Margaret (Keane) Fitzgerald. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, 3rd Division, 3rd Marines during the Vietnam War, stationed in Dong Ha and Okinawa. Jack was the principal of Business Furniture Resources and worked through Apple Business Furniture and the A.K. Thomas Company, both of Andover. He also enjoyed serving the public through Marty’s Furniture in Melrose. He really knew and enjoyed furniture! Jack loved a good book, sports, political discussions and making gourmet meals with his wife. He was patriotic, funny, thoughtful, and loved to entertain his large family, friends and neighbors. He will leave a hole in many hearts, but will be with us in spirit. We are blessed for having shared this life with him. Family & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Tuesday Oct. 5th at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday Oct. 4th from 4-8 PM.
