Obituary

Jacquelyn Weber (Goodale) Goodenough, 83, of Mattapoisett died Friday April 23, 2010 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, daughter of Percy B. and Agnes Weber Goodale of Newington and Enfield Connecticut, she had lived in Mattapoisett for 50 years.
She was a graduate of both the Wells and Geary Schools of Drama in Connecticut and as a young woman enjoyed performing on stage. Jackie was active in business and community activities. She was the manager of Brooks Fashion and assistant manager of Peerless Department Store in North Dartmouth before becoming owner and manager of Odyssey Travel, Inc., in Mattapoisett.
She was a member of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church where she served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Director of Christian Education. For many years, she served as a leader of the Brownie Scouts and Dollars for Scholars. She was a member of the Mattapoisett Women's Club and the Maconchu Club. Jackie loved her family, living by the sea, traveling and discovering new things, reading, gardening, and working with children.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Dr. David S. Goodenough. Survivors include her children, Marsha Lee and Ron Steckbauer of California, Kriselyn Brammer and Russ Buckley of Mattapoisett, and David Jonathan and Dianne Goodenough of Maine, six grandchildren, Juliane Milburn, Jonathan Lorraine, Shaundra Goding, Jordan Brammer, Adam Goodenough, and Ryan Goodenough, and six great-grandchildren. She leaves one sister, Joyce Dudgeon of South Yarmouth. She was the sister of the late Lee Goodale and the late Albert Goodale.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday May 1, 2010 between 10:00 and 11:30AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett, followed by a memorial service at 12 Noon at the Mattapoisett Congregational Church. Burial in Cushing Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Mattapoisett Congregational Church, P.O. Box 284, Mattapoisett, MA 02739.
