William (Bill) E. Salter Sr. 86, Gainesville, Florida passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 after an extended battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born May 28, 1923 in Fitzgerald Georgia to the late Ava Hayes and Neil Salter. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Evelyn Parsons Salter. Mr. Salter was a retired salesman for Nabisco with over 40 years of service, a US Army veteran and was member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. He enjoyed golf, Gator sports and Braves baseball.
He is survived by two sons: Bill Salter, Jr. (Helen) and David Salter (Vicki), seven grandchildren: Tricia Webb of Stillwater Oklahoma, Kristie Davis of Gainesville, Fl., Shelly Lemler (Mark) of Cookson, Oklahoma, Audrey McCraw (Bobby) of Owasso, Oklahoma, Melanie Salter of St Petersburg, Florida, Heather Griffin (Brad) of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Casey Salter of Gainesville, Florida and eleven great grandchildren: Jimmy, Jordan, Connor, Katie, Madeline, Bailey, Trenton, Emily, Hannah, Riley and Bailee. He is also survived by his loving caregiver Loretta Jenkins.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday March 11, 2010 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church 10900 SW 24th Ave Gainesville, Florida 32607 with the Rev. Father Jeffery McGowan officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Meadows Central.
