Mrs. Ruth Fussell, 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, April 30, 2009, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, May 2 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10 A.M. on Saturday until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
Mrs. Fussell was born July 14, 1929 in Randolph County to the late Thomas E. and Claudia Wilson Lowrey. She lived in the community most of her life, retiring as a supervisor from General Telephone. Mrs. Fussell was an active member of Arbor Baptist Church, where for many years, she taught Sunday school, served as a teller on the counting committee, and served as an outreach leader. She was a quiet and humble servant, leading many people to Christ and willing to help anyone in need.
She is survived by her devoted husband, L.C. Fussell of Fitzgerald; daughter, Debbie Evans of Leesburg; granddaughter and her husband, Kristi & John Stewart of Leesburg; grandson, Rick & Alison Sellers of Seattle, WA; great granddaughters, Lauren & Hannah Stewart of Leesburg and Ada & Josephine Sellers of Seattle, WA; nephews, Tom Arthur of Dallas, TX and Lloyd Arthur of Perry as well as special caregivers, Mr. Fussell’s niece and nephew, Peggy Ann Horton Quinlan of New Iberia, LA and Danny Horton of Panola Park, FL. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Lowrey and sister, Althea Arthur.
