Mr. Alfred J. Falcione, “Big Al” age 74
of Lynnfield, formerly of Medford and Melrose, died on Wednesday in the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading.
Born in Boston, MA, son of the late Joseph Falcione and Assunta (DiSalvo) Falcione. A graduate of Medford High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Falcione was appointed as a Police Officer in 1966 to the Metropolitan District Commission, later becoming the State Police, stationed in the Medford Barracks. He also served in the Revere State Police barracks on Revere Beach. In 1997, he was awarded a citation for bravery from the Medford Police Department for his action in a rescue effort. In his spare time he worked for the former Hudson Bus Company of Medford. He loved his family and grandchildren, cooking, football and the Yankees.
He leaves 2 daughters, Dorothy Balian and her husband Steven, Lisa DeLeo and her husband Anthony all of Lynnfield. Father of the late Thomas Falcione . Loving grandfather of Spencer, Trent and Evan Balian, Brittany and Taylor DeLeo. Brother in law of Carmen LaPorta of Arlington. Dear brother of the late Pasquale Falcione, Dora LaPorta and Inez Palmisano. Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Saturday at 10:30 am. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 11:30 am. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Memorial contributions may be sent in Al’s name to the American Heart Association 20 Speen Street, Framingham MA. 01701.
