South Dartmouth – Richard J. Medeiros died Friday, November 10, 2006 at home, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Dolores (Mendoza) Medeiros of S. Dartmouth, the father of Richard J. Medeiros Jr. and his wife Jennifer of N. Dartmouth, MA., James R. Medeiros and his wife Joy of So.Dartmouth, MA., Edward J. Medeiros and his wife Diane of N. Dartmouth, MA., and Paul A. Medeiros and his wife Nicole of N. Dartmouth, MA. He was the grandfather of Christine L. Medeiros,
Richard J. Medeiros III, Andrew J. Medeiros, Cristopher A. Medeiros, and Pablo D. Medeiros. Mr. Medeiros was the brother of Arthur Medeiros of New Bedford, MA., Theophile Medeiros and his wife Gloria of N. Dartmouth, MA., Dorothy Arruda wife of Manuel of So.Dartmouth, MA., and Noemia Tavares wife of Robert of So. Dartmouth, MA and sister-in-law Theresa Medeiros of N. Dartmouth, MA. Mr. Medeiros was the brother of the late Manuel Medeiros Jr., Louis Medeiros, and Lillian Santos. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Medeiros was the son of the late Manuel and Germina (Almeida) Medeiros. He was born in Dartmouth, lived in this area most of his life. He was an assistant general foreman for the Town of Dartmouth’s highway division. He was an avid bowler in the Jolly Senior League in Mattapoisett.
Mr. Medeiros’ Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Tuesday at 9:45 A.M. and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth, MA. Visiting hours will be Monday from 5 - 8 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery.
