Chester Ann “Chetty“ Pate Ayers, age 82, passed away at her home in Hernando, MS on October 2, 2018. She was born September 4, 1936 in Oakland, MS to late Chester Collins Pate and Ethel Denley Pate. Chetty worked at Holley Carburetor in Water Valley, MS for 28 years. She loved fishing, gardening, and working in her flower garden. But nothing compared to the love she had for her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church Coffeeville, MS.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Coffeeville Sunday October 7, 2018 at 2 PM with a memorial service to follow at 3 PM. Interment will be in the Coffeeville City Cemetery. Chetty is survived by six daughters, Susanne Bennett of Hernando, MS, Sally Ayers of French Settlement, LA, Stacy Reeves of Bruce, MS, Samantha Smithson, and Sandy Story both of Water Valley, MS and Julia Ayers of Coffeeville, MS; three sons, Chester Ayers (Carol) of Batesville, MS, Jason Ayers of Water Valley, MS, and John Ayers (Mandy) of Grenada, MS; one sister, Sally Pate of Pleasent Grove, AL, one brother, George Pate of Madison, MS; as well as 16 grand children and 8 great grand children. In addition to her parents, Chetty was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Ellen Arington.
