WAYLAND: Katherine T. (O’Leary) Karman, 95, died peacefully and in the care and comfort of her family at her residence in Wayland on September 15, 2018 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Boston on January 28, 1923 the daughter of the late Michael O’Leary and Julia T. (Shea) O’Leary.
Katherine was the beloved wife of the late John T. Karman who died on June 12, 1996.
She is survived by her children James B. Karman and his wife Sandra A. Karman of Sudbury; Kathy A. Lavoie and her husband George Lavoie of Lunenburg; John M. Karman and his wife Cathy Karman of Foxborough and Michael P. Karman and his wife Linda S. Karman of Concord. Sister-in-law of Robert Karman of Franconia, NH. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a niece and a nephew. Sister of the late Mary and Alice O’Leary.
Katherine spent her formative years in Boston and graduated from Mission Hill High School.
By nature, Katherine was a “city girl” and moved to Wayland with her husband John to raise their children. She eventually grew to love the suburbs and its surroundings.
She was an avid reader, truly a lifelong Red Sox and Patriot’s fan and loved playing bingo with her friends. In her earlier years, she was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader for her children.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her and will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to her loving care givers and friends Donna Cripps and Fran Callahan.
At the request of her family, there will be no funeral home visitations.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 10:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin Church, 99 Main Street (Rte, 27), Wayland. Family and friends are asked to go directly to church.
Interment to follow in the Karman family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
