Obituary

“BostonBoston Police Lieutenant, George M. Collier, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Monday, June 25, 2018. He was 52 years of age.

George was born in Somerville on June 5, 1966, a son of Robert H. Collier and Evelyn M. (O'Donnell) Collier. He grew up in Charlestown and was educated at St. Benedict's Parochial School (Little Flower) in Somerville and graduated from Arlington Catholic High School in 1984. George attended college and also received his Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England College. George began working for Boston Health & Hospitals as an EMT for several years before he was appointed to the Boston Police Department in March of 1996. He was promoted to Sergeant in June of 2003 and was promoted to Lieutenant in May of 2015. During his career with the Boston Police Department, George has worked in South Boston, Area C-6, downtown Boston including Charlestown, Area A and Jamaica Plain, E-13. During his career as a Boston Police Officer, George has received several commendations and won the Boston Police Department Medal of Honor in 1999. He was a member of the Boston Police Superior Officers Federation and Boston Police Relief Association. He was a member of the Bunker Hill Associates and The 520 Club of Charlestown.

George is the beloved husband of 17 years to Maureen A. (McCabe) Collier. He is the devoted son of Robert H. Collier and Evelyn M. (O'Donnell) Collier. He is the beloved brother of Lyn Parziale, Robert Collier Jr. and his wife Karen, Joseph Collier, John Collier and his wife Lauren, Michael Collier and his wife Julie, Mary Collier and Kenny Reyno, Ann Collier and David Collier. He is the beloved brother-in-law of Lynda and Brian Stillman. He is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend George's Funeral on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 9:30 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. His burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. His visiting hours will be on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 3 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
