Beatrice Joy (Sterling) Attardo
WAYLAND: Beatrice Joy (Sterling) Attardo, 84, died peacefully and comfortably on Monday morning June 11, 2018 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Cambridge on January 17, 1934 the daughter of the late George E. Sterling and Elizabeth A (Nevins) Sterling.
Beatrice was the beloved and devoted wife for 62 years of Louis A. Attardo of Wayland. Loving mother of Luanne A. Chester of North Reading; Louis S. Attardo of Wayland, Rosemarie Attardo of Wayland, Suzanne A. Waldron of Framingham, Kathryn Hayward and her husband Steven Hayward of Wayland and Phyllis A. Kennedy and her husband Michael Kennedy of Framingham. Sister of George E. Sterling, Jr and his wife Mary Jane Sterling of Framingham. Cherished grandmother of Megan Joy Chester, Matthew A. Chester, Kathryn E. Kennedy, Robert L. Waldron, Courtney M. Waldron, Michael T. Kennedy, Jessica R. Hayward, Samantha L. Hayward and Margaret R. Kennedy. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Beatrice has been a lifelong resident of Wayland and graduated from Wayland High School with the Class of 1952. She had a long and distinguished career as a bookkeeper and began that journey with the Wayland Town Crier for many years. She retired after serving the Town of Wayland with the Board of Assessors as a bookkeeper.
She and her husband Louis enjoyed many vacations and summers in their home in Gouldsboro, Maine and times spent at the ocean in Hampton Beach, NH with their children.
She enjoyed designing and making quilts, was a fabulous cook and baker for her family and friends. She will be fondly remembered and loved by her entire family and for those who had the pleasure to know her.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte. 30), Wayland.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to Good Shepherd Parish at St. Ann Church, 134 Cochituate Road (Rte. 27), Wayland on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11:30 am for her Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will follow in the Attardo family lot in Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
In lieu of flowers, her family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Beatrice’s memory be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
