Robert "Paul" Johnson, 82, of Anderson passed away June 9, 2018 at Community Northview Care Center following an extended illness.
Paul was born May 18, 1936 in Anderson, to the late Walter P. and Anna Johnson.
He was a graduate of Anderson High School class of 1954. He received a B. A. Degree from Marion College and received a Master's degree from Ball State University. He was a Guidance Counselor for Anderson Community Schools for 31 years, retiring in 1994. He faithfully attended Madison Park Church of God, where he served on the church council and other committees.
Paul served his country in the United States Navy for 30 years retiring in 1991 with the rank of Master Chief. He was a past commander of the U. S. Power Squadron, the Naval Enlisted Reserve Association of Chicago, Ill.; a chaplain in the Fleet Reserve Association, Indianapolis.
He was a life time member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and most of all sailing his sailboat on the Great Lakes and the Florida Keys.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred, whom he married May 8, 1960, a daughter, Jennifer (Andy) Drummond of Anderson, two sisters, Lois Smith of Spring Hill, FL and Ruth Burkhart of Anderson; a sister-in-law, Princess Johnson of Anderson and several nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James Johnson and brothers-in-law, Warren Smith and Howard Burkhart.
Services will be Friday, June 15 at noon at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Jim Lyon officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
