WAYLAND: Ruth M. (Tidman) Chamberlin, 96, died comfortably on Friday, May 18, 2018 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Concord on July 15, 1921 the daughter of the late Harry J. Tidman and Helen A. (Hodgdon) Tidman,
Ruth was the wife of the late Calvin D. Chamberlin who died on September 12, 2005.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha N. Chamberlin of Waltham and was the mother of the late C. Douglas Chamberlin who died in 1986 and Peter B. Chamberlin who died in 2001. She was the sister of Gloria D. Pinkham of Concord. Also survived by two grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ruth has been a longtime resident of Wayland and spent her formative years in Waltham. She and her husband Calvin were founding members of the former Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Wayland. She was an active member of the church which was the center of her Christian life. She loved flowers and was a member of the Altar Guild of the church and a member of the Wayland Garden Club. Ruth also was a volunteer at the Leonard Morse Hospital and a Pastoral Associate. She enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth’s Church, One Morse Road, Sudbury. Private family interment will be held in the Memorial Garden at the church.
In lieu of flowers, her family kindly requests that memorial gifts in Ruth’s memory be sent to St. Elizabeth’s Church.
