Charles Franklin Castor passed away on December 19, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson after a very brief illness.
He was born at home, the last of six children to Ovel N. Castor and Mildred May Hubbard on December 31, 1938, in Baby Farms, Madison County, IN and lived in Madison County most of his life. He attended Franklin Grade School, Franklin Jr. High and Anderson High School.
He married Carol Mae Surface on July 20, 1957, celebrating their 60th anniversary this year. They have one child.
He was a self-employed welder-machinist for more than 40 years at his father's business in Emporia, IN known as O N Castor & Sons, and then became owner when his brother died and he took over the business with his son.
He is survived by his wife and son, Charles Franklin Castor, Jr. one sister, Loretta May Brown who lives in Hampton, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Catherine H. Castor and three brothers, Donald Wayne Castor, Jack Newton Castor and Carroll Gene Castor.
He was a charter member of the Fall Creek Valley Conservation Club; an avid Democrat, who never missed an election; an avid Anderson Indian Basketball fan for more than 50 years. He enjoyed bowling in his younger years and loved watching the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and the Indiana Pacers, especially this year.
The family wants to express their heartfelt gratitude for the loving care and compassing they received from everyone in the Emergency Room and the Fifth floor at St. Vincent Hospital, to the Ambulance technicians from Richland Township and the very caring and patient dispatcher who answered the 911 call.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
