Thomas Clinton Cox Obituary - Water Valley MS

Thomas Clinton Cox, age 79, of Coffeeville, MS passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. He was born March 30, 1938 in Water Valley, MS to the late Eva French Cox and Joe Thomas Cox. Tom was a Vietnam War veteran having first served in the US Army then later retired from the US Air Force. He had a passion for battlefield memorabilia and enjoyed learning and discussing wars and their history. Tom was compassionate about animals and considered all animals his friends. He had a kind heart and was always willing to help a friend or a stranger.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Seven Oaks Funeral Home with services beginning at 11:00 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks, Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley with Andy Fly, Mike Fly, Richard Bennett, Tony Carmichael, Austin Fly, David Hoop, Shawn Hughes, and Bobby Whatley serving as pallbearers. Garrett Cox and Ian Cox will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Kibby Powell of Middletown, MD; his son, Jason (Malissa) Cox of San Antonio, TX; his sister, Bettie (Ron) Morris of Snelville, GA; his brother, Bruce Edward Cox of Florence AL; his three grandchildren, Garrett Cox, Ian Cox, and Nicole Powell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition, Tom is survived by Portia Byars and Andy Fly who adopted him into their family and many other friends.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Faye Mitchell and his brother, James Robert Cox.
