Uxbridge: Thomas M. “Tom” Crabtree, 84, died peacefully and comfortably on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Lydia Taft House following a period of declining health.
He was born on October 9, 1933 the son of the late William A. Crabtree and Gertrude (Fawn) Crabtree.
Thomas was the beloved and devoted husband for 55 years of the late Myrtle J. (Sellars) Crabtree who died on February 13, 2015.
Loving father of Thomas Crabtree of Kailua, HI; William Crabtree of Wrentham and Steven Crabtree of Jenks, OK. Caring “Grampie” of Haley Crabtree, Piper Crabtree, Victoria Crabtree, Austin Crabtree, Trevor Crabtree and Courtney Crabtree. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Tom has resided in Millbury for three years and previously in Framingham for 46 years. He spent his formative years in St. Joe, Arkansas where he graduated from St. Joe High School. He moved to New England and resided in Cochituate before he and Myrtle settled in Framingham. He served his country proudly as a Staff Sergeant with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He has a long career as an Electrical Engineer with GTE Sylvania in the Needham and Boston area retiring after 25 years of dedicated service.
Tom and his family were long time members of the Wellesley Park Assembly of God Church in Natick and Wayland where he served on many committees and was involved in the affairs of the church. More recently and for several years, he was associated with the New Hope Community Church in Marlborough. He was devoted to his Christian faith and was always available to assist others with a helping hand. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle to his family and always placed them above everything else in life. Tom always enjoyed visits with his grandchildren in Hawaii, Oklahoma and Massachusetts. He will be fondly remembered and admired by everyone who knew and loved him and will be missed by all the lives that he touched.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 10:30 am at the Crabtree family lot in Glenwood Cemetery, 25 Glenwood Road, South Natick.
