Dartmouth – Jose do Carmo Amaral, age 74 of North Dartmouth, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Maria da Missão Furtado (Clara) Amaral and the son of the late Rosa (Ferreira) and Mariano Amaral Morgado.
He was born in Povoação, St. Michael, Azores and had lived here since 1968. He was the proprietor of Paradise of Fashion for the past 30 years. Jose had previously worked for Knapp Shoes, Chamberlain and had been the owner of N.B. Fish Market.
He is survived by his wife, Maria; daughter, Susan Antunes and her husband, Antonio of Dartmouth; son, Michael Amaral and his wife, Debra of Dartmouth; 4 grandchildren, Christopher Antunes, Marissa Antunes, Abigail Amaral and Jessica Amaral; siblings, Maria do Carmo Raposo and her husband, Teofilio and Claudina Cruz and her husband, Jose; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
His visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
