George A. Kalavsky

George A. Kalavsky, Dickson City, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sept. 9 in the Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center. George is survived by his wife, Joan Rusyn Kalavsky.

Born in Dickson City on June 11, 1932, he was a son of the late Anthony and Anna Yakubisini Kalavsky. He was a member of Holy Cross Parish. George was a graduate of Girard College Philadelphia class of 1949 and upon graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and served honorably in the Korean War from 1949 to 1953. Before retirement, he was employed at McKinney Manufacturing as a tool and die maker.

He is survived by five children, George Jr. and wife, Debra, Dickson City; Diane and husband, Joseph Aulisio, Old Forge; Linda and husband, Tim Farley, Hazleton; Susan and husband, John Casey, Dickson City; and Joann and husband, Guy Juliano, Archbald; 10 grandchildren, Joseph and Jennifer Aulisio, Jason and Joshua Farley, Jonathan, Kathleen and Eileen Casey, Amanda Juliano, Christian Kalavsky and Tracey Kalavsky Tini; three great-grandchildren, Ella, Mattie and Gabriel; two sisters Mary Kalavsky, Dickson City; and Elizabeth and husband, Vincent Talutto, Blakely; sister-in-law, Cynthia David, Olyphant; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, George III and Jeffrey Kalav-sky; sister-in-law, Karen and husband, Joseph Sheroshik; and brother-in-law, David David.

The family would like to express its sincere appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Oleski, also the staff of Lackawanna Health & Rehab Center and the staff and nurses of the Hospice of the Sacred Heart.

A funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick's Church, Olyphant. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
