New Bedford-Julio Araujo was born on July 27, 1922, in New Bedford. He passed away peacefully on August 10, 2017, at the age 95, at Rockdale Care and Rehab Nursing Home. He had been employed as a presser for many years. He was the beloved son of the late Celia Augusta (Medeiros) and Antonio de Araujo and the former husband of Maria Odelia Araujo. Their only daughter, Judith, passed away in December 2016. He is preceded in death by his siblings; Maria Ines de Souza, Maria Estrella Rezendes, Fernandes Araujo, Amilcar de Araujo, and Daniel de Araujo.
Julio was devoted to his family. He is survived by his youngest sister Maria Ilda Pacheco of New Bedford; his only son, Antonio and wife Lupe Araujo of Hanford, CA; his granddaughter Antonia and her husband Donivan Stone of Hanford, CA; 5 grandsons Gabriel and his wife Shelley Araujo of Easton, KS; Adam and his wife Renee Araujo of Germany; Jarod and his wife Leslie Araujo of Fresno, CA; Caleb Araujo; and Thomas Mills Araujo of Hanford, CA; 9 great-grandchildren; Logan, Elaina, Christian, Caleb, Jasiah, Noah, Allie, Ethan, and Sophia as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank their extended family members and the entire staff at Rockdale Care and Rehab Nursing Home for the years of care, love, and kindness they showed Julio. To the family: we thank you so much for taking the time to visit and pray with him.
Julio's viewing will take place at Perry Funeral Home on Friday, August 25th from 8:30 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. His funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M.
