Obituary

Sammons, William Raymond, 64 was taken to Heaven at 4:17pm on Sunday, August 6, 2017 from Baptist Hospital. He had a long battle with lymphoma.
He was born to William Harvey and Hazel Irene (Kline) Sammons on November 11, 1952 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill was self-employed as a Computer Consultant.
His loving wife Teresa D. Sammons (Logsdon) is left behind to cherish their 46 years of memories and will sorely miss him. They met at Murray State University. His wife prays a simple prayer, “Dear God thank you for this man that I shared many wonderful memories with. Keep Bill blessed, happy, and pain free in your arms until we meet again”.
Bill was diversified in his interests. He enjoyed traveling, photography, cooking, nature, animals, and the sciences to include astronomy, physics, and mathematics. He was a member of the Arensbak Troll Collectors Club associated with 5 Arts Studio in Cosby, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Murray State University.
The family sends thanks to the nurses and aides of the Oncology unit at Norton Hospital Suburban and the staff at Baptist Hospital Park Tower 3. A special thanks is sent to his caregiver team from Visiting Nurses Association (Stacey Goodman Jones RN, Lauren Metzmeir OT, Amie Broome Odom RN, and Dave McCauley PT). Bill came to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior during ministry provided by his Home Health Nurse, Stacey Goodman Jones. He was baptized in the hospital and was awaiting immersion in order to become a member of Southeast Christian Church, whose members provided support during his illness. Another special thanks to our neighbors, Brian Zilich, Chris Cox, and Jason Bradbury, who helped during his illness. Thanks to the many prayer warriors; Kappa Delta Sorority (Delta Iota Chapter); Jody Sizemore, Stephanie and Andi Barefoot (friends of the family); SPS, and the many other people who helped us along the way.
A Private Service will be held at Owen Funeral Home. He will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held in the near future (details TBA).
