George R. Boland, 90, of Derry, NH died Tuesday August 1, 2017 in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry. Mr. Boland was born in Lowell, MA on November 29, 1926, a son of the late James and Georgiana (Gagnon) Boland. He had been a resident of Londonderry for 25 years, formerly living in Melrose, MA. He was a US Marine Corp veteran having served during WWII. Mr. Boland retired in 1988 from Tufts NE Medical Center in Boston where he worked as a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the Harold O. Young VFW Post, Melrose, MA, and a life member of the 2nd Marine Division Association. He and his wife enjoyed wintering in Bradenton, FL.
He is survived by one son, David Boland and his wife Nancy of Pepperell, MA, four daughters, Linda Patton of Franklin, NH, Susan Boland-Mercer and her husband Dennis of Auburn, NH, Kathy Spadafora and her husband Danny of Milford, NH, and Laura Francis and her husband Ron of Londonderry, NH, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret H. (Laurie) Boland in 2004.
Calling hours were held on Thursday August 3, 2017 from 6 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Graveside services were held on Friday at 11:00am at the Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose, MA.
