Barry M. Franks Sr., 72 of Derry, NH passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on February 4, 1945 in Chester, PA, a son of the late Charles and Sarah (Zimmerman) Franks.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Crider of Derry, three daughters, Tammy Santora and husband Joseph of Tewksbury, MA, Tracy Salk and husband Brad Catyb of Billerica, MA, and Sharon Fawcett and husband Scott of Londonderry, NH; his son, Barry M. Franks, Jr. and wife Michelle of Derry, a step-son, Kevin Crider of Fremont, NH, thirteen grandchildren; Ashley, Christopher, Drew, Barbara, Dylan, Alexander, Sarah, Zach, Samantha, Cody, Amanda, Kayla and Charlie, one brother, William Franks and wife Carla of Middleboro, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Martin Franks and a sister, Barbara Scheivert.
In his younger years Barry served with the Navy and often reminisced about his ship the Mason. He started several companies but his pride and joy was Target Pest Elimination. Anyone that knew him would agree that he was a caring, loving man that would help anyone. He adored his Molly dogs. Barry could often be found by his son's side helping build machines in the shop or just hanging with Kathy; the love of his life, partner in crime and better half. He was blessed to have her in his life for the last 37 years. Above all else Barry loved his children, grandchildren and family and would want everyone to remember the good times.
Following cremation, memorial calling hours were held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 3 - 6 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. A celebration of life took place at 5:00pm during the calling hours. Private burial will be at a later time in NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy., Boscawen, NH.
