WORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS, USA: Ynes Maria Matos, 95, died on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, after a brief illness.
She leaves three daughters, Maria Rafaela Segura of the Dominican Republic, Eunice Rodriguez of Worcester, Nurys Catalina Segura of the Dominican Republic; a son, Baron Segura of Worcester; a brother, Cesar Matos of the Dominican Republic; 6 grandchildren, Jacqueline, Evelyn, Robert, Rossy, Marlyn, Donald; and 12 great grandchildren.
She was born and raised in the Dominican Republic, one of 13 children of the late Juan Matos and Rafaela (Segura) Matos and lived in New York City before moving to Worcester in 1998.
Ynes was an active member of the Ministerio Cristiano Filadelfia. She was an avid reader and enjoyed arts and crafts. Everyone called her Mama Ynes and marveled at her sharp mind.
CALLING HOURS will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on SUNDAY, JULY 30, at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln Street. FUNERAL SERVICES will begin at 10:30 A.M. on MONDAY, JULY 31 in the funeral home, followed by burial in St. John’s Cemetery.
