Lianne M. (Vernava) Belkas

Lianne Belkas (Vernava) peacefully returned to her heavenly home with her family and friends by her side on Monday, June 26, 2017, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. She was 58 years old. She was the Devoted wife of Daniel J. Belkas, Sr,
Born in Lynn and raised in Swampscott, she is the daughter of Frank B. Vernava of Wolfeboro, NH, and Jane E. (Bates) Leach of Keene, NH. A graduate of Swampscott High, Class of ’77, she also attended Salem State College and North Shore Community College in Lynn. Lianne first worked for GTE Sylvania at the Loring Ave. facility. In 2000, she left Sylvania and took a position as an administrative assistant for the Town of Swampscott Health Department, where she worked for nearly 17 years and was loved by many. Lianne often walked to work. Her calm, friendly demeanor made it easy for her to address local resident issues. She also served as administrative support for the Recreation office and was often seen happy at her desk using her artistic side by making prototypes of crafts to be used for the Breakfast with Santa or Park Programs.
Lianne was strong in her faith, served as a weekly communicant at St. Anne Parish in Salem, and was a Friend of Bill and Bob’s for over 30 years where She shared deep bonds with many special friends. In her free time, Lianne was an avid crafter, reader, and movie-goer. She was known for capturing images of hearts everywhere she went to share with the world: just another way of spreading love whenever possible. Lianne’s all-time favorite activity was to spend time with her family, stepchildren, grandchildren, and friends and was the familt Tree Archivist. She was rich in relationships and blessed to have so many people with which she felt immense joy.
Lianne was the loving stepdaughter of Carol Vernava of Wolfboro, NH, she was predeceased by her stepfather, William Leach of Peabody, Ma. Loving stepmother to Lisa Sheedy (Belkas) of Pepperell, Daniel Belkas and his wife Nancy (Pagan) of Tyngsboro, and Terri Belkas-Mitchell and her husband Mike of Bedford, NY. Lianne was an Adoring grandmother to Cameron, Cody, and Carly Sheedy, Danny and Nathan Belkas, and Brennan Mitchell.

In addition She is survived by her Sister to Janis Wadden Boossarangsi (Vernava) and her husband Puckdee Boossarangsi of South Burlington, VT, Brother to Frank and his wife, Debra Vernava of Medford, MA, Robert and his wife, Nancy Vernava of Swampscott. MA, David Vernava of Peabody, MA, Steven and his wife, Kerrie Vernava, of Rockland, MA. Also, stepsister to Lyn Anne and her husband, Paul Lemieux of Salem, MA, Robert and his wife, Kathleen Michaud of Lynn, MA, William and his wife, Lisa Leach of Lynn, MA, and Sharon Leach of Peabody, MA and predeceased by her stepbrother Richard Michaud.
Lianne was a proud aunt to Ashley Wadden Cohen and her husband, Michael Cohen of Burlington, VT, Andrew Wadden and his wife, Rosanne (Khoury) of Washington Township, NJ, Shanna Gianellis of West Wareham, MA, Taylor, Delaney, and Steven Vernava of Rockland, MA, Vincent Vernava of Peabody, MA, Luca and Marco Vernava of Medford, MA, Peter Sapira and his wife Kerry Valentine of Holyoke, MA, Valerie Doherty (Sapira) and her husband Rich of Burlington, MA, Chris Belkas and his wife Tegan Feehery of Baltimore, MD, Nick Belkas of Malden, CT, Mike Belkas of Manchester, NH, Brian Belkas of Dover, NH, and Heather and Marc Brander of Chester, NH.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette Street, Salem on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint John the Evangelist Church, 174 Humphrey St. Swampscott, Ma. at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 3 –7 p.m. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
