Obituary

Worcester – James "Jim" L. Drake, 54, of Worcester, died on Monday, June 5th in Sutton from injuries sustained during a motor vehicle accident.
Jim is survived by his wife of 26 years, Rosemarie L. Drake; his daughters, Rebecca Charette of Chuluota, FL, Mary Tambling of Worcester, Jaime Smith of Sutton and Christie Drake of New Bedford, MA; his mother, Mary Jane (Young) Drake of Leetonia, OH; his siblings, Todd Drake of Salem, OH, Rodney Drake of Chandler, AZ and Betsy Drake of Hanoverton, OH; 7 grandchildren, Drake Charette, Preston Charette, Marley Tambling, Cyprus Tambling, Iris Alicea, Jericho Smith and Terrence Dixon and many nephews and nieces.
Jim was born in Elwood City, Pennsylvania to Robert and Jane Drake. Jim graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for many years in the electronics industry, including 30 years as a product and verification engineer for DEC/Intel Corporation in Hudson, MA.
Jim was a man of great faith and a longstanding member at the Northboro Church of Christ serving in many capacities including: Deacon, Preacher, Song Leader, Assistant Director of The New England Bible Camp, Sound System Coordinator and Sunday School Teacher. Jim also traveled to many parts of the country and preached at other churches.
Jim was raised in Ohio on a cattle farm where he learned at a young age the virtues and values of faith and family. He started at the age of 9 showing steers with his family at many competitions and continued until age 18. During these years, Jim received many awards and most importantly, he developed a close bond with his family, especially his father who died just two days after Jim.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 10 at 3 PM in Northboro Church of Christ 456 West Main Street Northboro. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church.
