Rita M. Brazauskas, of Worcester, MA died peacefully Monday May 29, 2017 in St. Mary Health Care Center, 39 Queen St., Worcester, MA. She was 91. Rita was predeceased by her parents, Joseph Brazauskas and Mary Dranginis Brazauskas; her brother, Joseph L. Brazauskas and her beloved friend, Adolph J. Kazalaitis of Worcester, MA.
A lifelong resident of Worcester, MA, Rita was a graduate of the St. Casimir School and The High School of Commerce. Ms. Brazauskas held many careers in the Worcester area and retired in 1991 from the accounting department of Melville Shoe Corporation.
Rita loved to share and educate people about her Lithuanian culture and was a passionate member of Knights of Lithuania, Council 26.
A devout member of the Catholic faith, Rita volunteered for over 60 years with the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, Putnam Ct., and reached many people through her unwavering dedication. She was also a fervent member of the former St. Casimir Church, Worcester, MA and enjoyed singing the word of God through its church choir.
When given the opportunity, Rita loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Canada, The Vatican, exploring the continental United States, Hawaii, Bermuda and the Caribbean.
Rita leaves two nephews, Joseph A. Brazauskas, Sr. of Shrewsbury, MA, Michael J. Brazauskas of Hendersonville, NC, a niece, Christine L. Brazauskas of Worcester, MA; a great nephew Joseph A. Brazauskas, Jr., and three great nieces, Katherine Brazauskas, Sarah Brazauskas and Laura Brazauskas.
A funeral will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., Worcester, MA with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Road, Worcester, MA. A calling hour will be held in the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Thursday June 1, 2017. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Save the Children in her name.
