Obituary

Helena P. (Dymek) Liazos, 75, of Worcester, died in her sleep on May 11th following a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. She is survived by her husband, of 53 years, Christos T. Liazos; two sons, Andrew C. Liazos and his wife, Meg, of Westborough, and Theodore C. Liazos of Washington, D.C.; her brother, Chester J. Dymek and his wife, Pam of Colorado Springs, CO; her sister, Elaine F. Kallio and her husband, Don of Pawtucket, RI. She also leaves three grandchildren, Chris, Rachel and Stephen Liazos, and many nephews, nieces and friends.

Helena was born in Worcester the daughter of Chester and Helen (Sopczak) Dymek and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in 1959 and went on to earn a degree at the Ward School of Business in 1962.

Helena was a homemaker and later joined her husband in operating the Webster House Restaurant, a well-known Worcester dining institution, for over 30 years. Helena left her mark at the Webster House in many ways, from her pastry creations and special wine dinners to ethnic celebrations and customer newsletters. The Webster House’s ambiance reflected her friendly nature, sense of humor, and ability to bring people together.

Helena loved spending time with her grandchildren, going to their games, making gingerbread houses with them and baking tasty cookies, pies, and cakes. Helena greatly enjoyed her friends at the YMCA, who always brought her great cheer and comforted and supported during her illness.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Massachusetts General Hospital and the staff of the VNA Care Network for the care and support provided to Helena.
