Obituary




Thomas F. McKinnon, 91, of Worcester, died Monday, April 24th in the Jewish Healthcare Center. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Florence R. (Paula) McKinnon; two daughters, Judith Wood and her husband, Richard of Rutland and Janice Chevalier and her husband, Wayne of Tavares, FL; seven grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, a great great-grandson, many nephews and nieces and his son-in-law, Francis Petty of Worcester. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Petty; three brothers, James, Robert and Francis and two sisters, Mary and Noreen.

He was born in Lowell, the son of James and Nora (Burke) McKinnon. Tom proudly served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He had been a Firefighter for the City of Worcester from 1957 until his retirement in 1982. In 1974 Tom received two Citations from then Chief Edward Hackett for his heroic efforts battling fires that year. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Angels Church.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Jewish Healthcare for their care, compassion and support provided to Tom during his stay there.

His funeral is Friday, April 28th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at Noon in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, April 27th from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
