Obituary

Mr. Larry Franklin Olinger, 67, beloved husband of Yong Olinger, entered into rest on Sunday, April 23, 2017.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday evening, April 26, 2017 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel. Mr. Olinger will then be returned to his hometown in Alabama for a visitation at Scottsboro Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00, followed by a service on Friday at 10:00 AM in the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at Gross Cemetery.

Mr. Olinger was a native of Scottsboro. He spent 21 years in the Army, before settling in Evans, Georgia, where he was a small business owner. He was proud of his family and military service. He enjoyed golf, building computers, working on cars, playing dominoes, and spending time with family and friends. Beloved husband, loving father, kind grandfather, considerate brother, caring uncle and devoted friend.

In addition to his wife, Yong, he is survived by his children; Rhonda Click (David Vaughn), Larry F. Olinger, Jr (Sheila), and Kymberly Butts (Mark), his grandchildren; Neal and Steven Olinger, Darryl Blackwell and Hunter Click, his brother; Kenny Olinger, his sisters; Gladys Bradford (Harry), Mattie Romans (Pete) and Kathy Rice (Keith), as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Robert and Lula Olinger, and his brothers; Roy Olinger (Lillian), Jerry Olinger (Martha) and Charles Ray Hodge (Mary Jo).

Special gratitude to Alvin Dixon and other close friends for the loving care given to Mr. Olinger.
