Obituary

Auburn – Claire (Richard) Messier, 87, of Oxford, passed away on Tuesday, April 18th in the Lifecare Center of Auburn after an illness.
Claire was married to the late Ronald Messier who died in 2002. She is survived by a son, David V. Messier and his wife, Deborah of Oxford; 2 brothers, Donald Richard of Auburn and Norman Richard of Florida; a sister, Theresa Bernard of Enfield, CT and many nephews and nieces.
Claire was born in Worcester, daughter of the late George and Irene (Messier) Richard and is also predeceased by a son Arthur O. Messier who died in 1984; 3 brothers, Paul Richard, Roland Richard and Ernest Richard and two sisters, Rita Manseau and Yvette Lloyd.
Mrs. Messier enjoyed listening to country music, playing cards especially rummy and going out to dinner with her family. However, she had her happiest moments when she would be playing with “Travis” the family dog and dancing. She enjoyed dancing so much that she eventually was given the nickname of “Claire the Dancing Bear” at the Charlton Manor, where she was a resident.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 22 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St., Worcester with a Mass at 10 AM in Saint John’s Church 44 Temple Street Worcester. Burial will be at a later date in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 21 from 5 to 7 PM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Claire may be made to Saint John’s Church “Food for the Poor Program” 44 Temple St. Worcester, MA 01604.
