Obituary

Dorothy H. (Belanger) Gish, 94, of Worcester died Friday, April 14, 2017 in Christopher House of Worcester. Her husband John Gish died in 1996. She is survived by her siblings, brother Lionel G. Belanger of Yuma, AZ; sisters, Irene L. Ostergard, Alice L. Belanger and Bernadette V. Courchaine, all of Worcester; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand nephews. She is predeceased by brothers, Robert A., Norman E., Emil G.F, Gerard H. and Edward B. Belanger;sister Jeannette C. Elia, who lived with her son Will Elia of Shrewsbury. She was born one of eleven children to Albert M. and Leotine (LaForest) Belanger.
Mrs. Gish worked as an assembler for Telechron Company prior to working and retiring from General Electric Company. She graduated from
Worcester Girls Trade School and was one of 8 children in her family who served the US Armed Forces. Dorothy was a US Coast Guard Veteran of World War II. After her parents died at a young age, Dorothy was the glue who kept the family together. Her family will be left with many fond memories of gatherings in her home. She was a member of the former Notre Dame Church, later St. Joseph Church and currently Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church.
The funeral was held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10:30 AM in Holy Family at St. Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton Street. Burial was in Notre Dame Cemetery. A calling hour was held in the funeral home on Thursday, April 20, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
