Obituary

SPENCER/LAKE ELMORE, VT: David J. Anderson, 72, of Lake Elmore, VT, formerly of Spencer, MA, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017. Born in Worcester, MA, he was the son of the late Helmer and Olive(Stevens) Anderson, and loving husband of Patricia (MacMillan) Anderson for almost 50 years. After graduating from David Prouty High School in 1963, David entered the U.S. Navy, where he served for four years. He later went on to work for the IBEW electrical union for many years. He worked at Sterling Manufacturing, Co. for over 35 years where he took on roles of increasing responsibility and eventually purchased the business and worked there until his retirement in 2011. David had many talents and interests, including woodworking and restoring antique cars. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, particularly his four granddaughters Mackenzie, Elisabeth, Lillian and Kathryn. David was very active in his church and community. He volunteered for the Spencer Fire Department, Boy Scouts, Lake Elmore Association and served as a trustee to the First Congregational Church of Spencer and Elmore United Methodist Church. He was widely known for his warm laugh, generous spirit and willingness to help a friend in need.

David is survived by his loving wife Patricia (MacMillan) Anderson, his son Scott Anderson and his wife Debra of Tolland, CT; his son Todd Anderson and his wife Emily of Hopkinton, MA, his sister Jean Curry of Jonesboro, GA and his granddaughters Mackenzie, Elisabeth, Lillian and Kathryn. He also leaves his sister in-law and brother in-law Ronny and Judy Fortin of Spencer and a sister in-law Joanne MacMillan of Spencer and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 11 at 10:00 AM in The First Congregational Church of Spencer, 205 Main Street, Spencer. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours will be from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday at J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elmore United Methodist Church, Paint Fund, P.O. Box 181, Lake Elmore, VT 05657.
