Josephine E. Calareso, of North Andover, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 23rd at the Sutton Hill Center. She was 103.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Cosmo and Mary (DeSimone) Magliozzi, and attended local schools.
Josephine was a hardworking, dedicated and caring person. She worked until she was eighty-three and stayed active in her retirement. In her spare time, she loved to travel. She visited Europe and Spain, though Spain was her favorite. An avid poker player, she enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas. Josephine love to help people. She always made sure that everyone was fed. Her signature dish was her macaroni and meatballs.
Josephine was the beloved wife of the late Santino Calareso and the devoted mother of Ronald Calareso and his wife Patricia of West Harwich. She was the loving grandmother of Michele O’Brien and her husband Timothy of Andover, Paula Conrad and her husband Richard of North Andover. The loving great grandmother of Maxwell, Emily, Michael and Jack, she is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Josephine was preceded in death by her seven siblings.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford on Tuesday, March 28th at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 through 8PM. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Josephine’s name to Boston Children's Hospital 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215 or the organization of One’s choice.
