AUBURN-Agnes M.A. (Buteau) Melander, 94, formerly of Eddy Pond and Worcester, died February 14, 2017 at Shrewsbury Nursing Center.
Her husband Henry J. Melander, Jr. predeceased her in 1993. She is survived by two daughters, Theresa J. Cronin and her husband Jerry of Auburn and Carol A. Benoit of Dudley; eight grandchildren, Cristi L. Corey, Jerry J. Cronin Jr., Karen M. Yenovkian, Kathie M. McQuarrie, John H. Melander, Jr., Heather Melander, and Nicole and Danielle Benoit; and seven great grandchildren. Agnes was predeceased by a son, John H. Melander in 1996, a daughter, Patricia A. Yenovkian in 2002, a great-granddaughter, Bridget Corey in 2009, and four sisters.
She was born in Northfield, NH, daughter of Prime W. and Clarinethe (Houle) Buteau. Agnes owned and operated Melander’s Beauty Salon on Vernon Hill for many years.
A Visiting Hour will be held Monday, February 20 from 10-11 am at CALLAHAN FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, immediately followed by a prayer service at 11am. Burial in Worcester County Memorial Park will be private and held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Special Olympics, 512 Forest Street, Marlborough, 01752.
