Obituary

Clinton: Roy S. Nelson, 91, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017 in Rose Monahan Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. He leaves four children- Cindy-Lee Fedeli and her husband David of Sterling, Bruce Nelson and his wife Celia of Jefferson, Beth-Ann Boynton of Princeton, and Brion Nelson and his wife Laura of Vermont; 9 grandchildren-Jody A. Shields and his partner Michelle Lloyd, Carrie-Sue Broderick and her husband Kevin, Adam Fedeli and his wife Gloria, Ross Fedeli, Jeffrey Nelson, Keith Nelson, Jessica Shaffer and her husband Aaron, Nichole Pelonzi and her husband Matthew, and Earle Boynton III; 10 great-grandchildren- Katie Meola, Jody and Tyler Shields, Shannon and Ashlinn Broderick, Aiyla Rose Fedeli, A.J and Lizzy Shaffer, and Emmit and Chad Pelonzi; a brother-in-law John Vaghini of Sterling, and a niece, Susan Miller of Dallas, TX. He was predeceased by a sister Claire Vaghini and a brother Robert Nelson.

Roy was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, son of the late Leander and Anna (Matson) Nelson. He graduated from Holden High School and Clark University and proudly served his country in the Air Force during WWII. He worked as a Research Engineer at the former Norton Company for many years. He had many hobbies and interests, including golfing, skiing, photography, gardening, painting, tennis, basketball, flying and reading. Roy most enjoyed time spent in the company of his family He will be missed for his simplicity of life as well as his devotion to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. in Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at a later date in New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roy's memory may be made to Veterans, Inc. 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
