Worcester - Tina Cates Fortier, 48, passed away after a short battle with cancer on January 28, 2017. Her husband of 18 years, Richard A. Fortier, died in 2016. She was a wonderful mother to her 7 sons and daughters, Billy Cates, Bruce Cates, Laura Cates, Miranda Fortier, Zachary Fortier, Kody Picard, and Jacob Fortier. She also leaves 5 sisters, her twin-Theresa Cates, Billie-Jean Cates, Deborah Chapman, Ann Holden, and Dianne Cates-Sutton and her 4 grandchildren, Alexis, Jameson, Mason, and Abel.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of John Billy Cates and Elaine Alice (Turtle) Cates. Tina was known as "Mom of the Valley." She was a people-person who loved her family and friends and hosting Barbeques and Thanksgiving, which was her favorite holiday.
Memorial calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester on Monday, February 6, 2017, from 6-8pm.
